What is PE rattan and why is it better for outdoor use?

PE rattan (polyethylene rattan) is a high-quality synthetic material designed to replicate natural rattan whilst being fully weatherproof—UV-stabilised, water-resistant, and won't crack, split, or fade. It's woven over rust-proof powder-coated aluminium frames for maximum durability. PE rattan furniture can stay outside year-round in the UK climate with minimal maintenance.

How long does rattan garden furniture last outdoors?

With proper care, quality PE rattan furniture lasts 10-15 years outdoors, and often longer. Rattan sets that are covered during winter, cleaned seasonally, and have cushions stored indoors will remain in excellent condition for over a decade. The weakest point is usually cushion fabric, which can fade after 5-7 years, but replacement cushions are readily available.

Can I leave rattan furniture outside all year in the UK?

Yes, PE rattan furniture is designed to remain outside year-round in British weather without rusting, rotting, or degrading. For maximum lifespan and appearance, cover the furniture during autumn and winter (October-March) and store cushions indoors.
